Forestry Days
„Let us invite you! You are all welcome! Your forests, your foresters.“
Forestry Days is a project that takes place annually from 22nd of April to 1st of May under auspices of Ministry of Agriculture of Slovak Republic. Its message follows up the tradition of April – the month of forests and it begins symbolically on the 22nd of April which is The Earth Day.
The main objective of Forestry Days is to inform about the significance and functions of forests, to introduce the work of foresters and tasks of forest management and to emphasize the need for a personal responsibility for the protection of forest riches.
Side events of Forestry Days are:
Green Drop of Blood
The aim is to motivate foresters and friends of the forest to become a voluntary blood donor for no reward, to enlarge the blood donors’ family and spread the idea of blood donation.
Trees of Knowledge
The main idea is to plant miniarboretums on basic schools premises and thus enlarge the knowledge of pupils about the basic wood species. The project is coordinated by Forests of the Slovak Republic, state enterprise, Banská Bystrica. You can find more details about the program on: http://www.lesnickedni.sk/
The Day of the Tree
Every year in the month of July, there is one beautiful event organized in the only Forestry open-air museum in Slovakia in Vydrovská valley close to the village called ÄŒierny Balog.
The main organizer of this project is the Forests of Slovak Republic, state enterprise, Banská Bystrica. On more than 60 stops on the path, visitors can see various works of Slovak foresters such as sawing of the wood, wood chip production, reforestation, use of a helicopter in the forest etc. Forest fairies are not missing either. The Day of the Tree is dedicated to all those who like forest.

Touring Owl
Touring Owl is a quiz in knowledge about the nature in the Tatra National Park, which is organized by the State Forests of TANAP. Participants are pupils from basic schools which cooperate actively with forest pedagogues of the State Forests of TANAP.
The quiz is a finale of the whole-year teaching process of forest pedagogues and pupils. It is divided into two parts: 1. practical recognition of objects from nature, 2. theoretical questions.
Total winners will obtain a touring figurine of a small and a big owl for one year.
